The coach of the Zvishavane Boxing Association Naison “Jah Nai” Takura says they will be travelling with a team of twelve boxers to Victoria Falls for a boxing tournament scheduled for the weekend.
The tourney will be hosted by Victoria Falls Boxing Academy in conjunction with Zimbabwe Boxing Federation and it will feature fifty bouts.
“Yes, we are going to Victoria Falls on Friday for a boxing tournament scheduled for Saturday and will feature about fifty bouts. We are travelling with twelve pugilists, four boys, six senior men and two senior ladies,” Takura said.
“I am happy with the enthusiasm shown by my fighters. Remember Covid-19 has affected every facet of life and no one has been spared of this ravaging phenomenon. However, I am really elated with the positive attitude shown by the boxers. This tournament has come at the right time for our boxers because without competitions it’s difficult to judge the progress of your boxers.”
The travelling team will be headed by the Zvishavane Boxing Association Team Manager Lloyd Mutemeri, coach Takura and assistant coach David “Bongo” Zamuchiya. The boxing tourney will also be used to select junior boxers who will be representing the country in forthcoming international boxing competitions.
