One passenger, a minor boy (4) died on the spot while 38 other passengers sustained varying injuries when the bus they were travelling in overturned on the 7th of January 2023 at around 1700 hours along Mberengwa – Mataga road.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the fatal accident.
He said allegations are that “upon reaching the 40-kilometre peg just after Chaza Business centre, the bus which was being driven by John Takura (35) of Highfields Harare and had 46 passengers on board hit a stone and the driver lost control and veered off the road and fell on the side of the bridge landing on its roof.”
