Zvishavane Town Council has ramped up road maintenance efforts across the town, targeting key routes damaged by recent heavy rains, as part of a broader infrastructure upgrade ahead of major new developments.
In a recent conversation with Great Dyke News, the Town Council Chairman Councillor Takarangana Keta confirmed that pothole patching has been completed along critical roads in the central business district, including areas around Edgars, AFC Bank, the bus rank, and other major tarmac surfaces.
The ongoing works also include road resurfacing and gravelling across multiple locations, with visible progress already being made at the Mandava rank and the town’s drinking water section.
The Council is partnering with private sector stakeholders to rehabilitate and upgrade roads leading to the Midlands Park area—particularly TM and Slater Avenue. These improvements are in preparation for the upcoming commissioning of Midlands Park, which is expected to require smooth and dependable road access.
The Chairman said the current maintenance programme is expected to be completed within the next three weeks. Afterward, the council will shift focus to constructing new roads in residential and commercial areas that have never been tarred, marking a significant expansion of the town’s road network.
