Zvishavane Trio Gets Suspended Sentence For Assault


A Zvishavane trio has been sentenced to three months behind bars after they were found guilty of assault as defined in criminal law codification and reform act chapter 9:23.

It was the state’s case that on February 21 around 00:30hrs the accused Khosikana Hove aged 20 of Zvishavane under Chief Mapanzure, Francis Sakhala aged 22 and Trinish Gwatara aged 23 went to the complainant Westley Sithole’s place and assaulted him using a whip (chiti robho) and left the complainant with some bruises mainly on the face and other parts of the body.

The court heard that Hove had a misunderstanding with the complainant together with the other accused then went to the complainant’s place at H4 Manjere Area, GMB Zvishavane and pushed the door open pulling the complainant out where they were some people and assaulted him leaving him with the earlier mentioned bruises.

The trio was found guilty as charged and sentenced to three months behind bars but the sentence was wholly suspended on condition they do not commit a similar crime in the next three years.
