Citizens Against Economic Sanctions, an advocacy group led by Martin Zharare, has issued a stern warning against any attempts to stage protests during the forthcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit.


In a public statement, Zharare emphasized the organization’s commitment to safeguarding national interests and upholding the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the current SADC chairperson.

“From now until the SADC summit, we will take every necessary measure to defend our country and protect President Mnangagwa’s chairmanship of SADC,” Martin declared. He further underscored the group’s stance against any actions they perceive as destabilizing, particularly in the context of the regional summit, which is expected to address significant political and economic issues facing the member states.


The warning comes amidst heightened tensions and concerns about potential unrest as the summit approaches.
