The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a house break-in and motor vehicle theft that occurred in Redcliff earlier this month.
Police identified the suspect as Benjamin Manyangadze of Ruwa, who was apprehended on 16 March 2026 at Murombedzi Business Centre after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle. Authorities confirmed that Manyangadze had been released from Marondera Prison on 2 March 2026, where he had been serving a sentence for six counts of unlawful entry and theft.
According to police, the offence took place on 11 March 2026 at approximately 5PM. The complainant, Tawanda Godfrey Magure, had left his residence in Redcliff when an unknown suspect allegedly forced entry into the house and stole various items, including car keys, US$1,800 in cash, a Tecno mobile phone and other personal property.
The suspect is alleged to have used the stolen keys to take a Peugeot motor vehicle, registration number AGY 1389, which was parked at the premises.
Investigations led detectives to the Chinhoyi–Chegutu Road, where the stolen vehicle was later spotted. Police coordinated with officers in Murombedzi, resulting in the interception of the vehicle and the arrest of the suspect.
Authorities confirmed that the stolen vehicle and the cellphone were recovered. The total value of property stolen is estimated at US$9,920, with recovered items valued at US$7,500.
Manyangadze is expected to appear in court on 18 March 2026 facing charges of unlawful entry into premises and theft of a motor vehicle, as defined under Sections 131 and 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
Police have urged members of the public to secure their homes and avoid leaving valuables exposed, noting the continued risk of property-related crimes.
