The Association of Mine Managers of Zimbabwe (AMMZ) launched its annual conference in Victoria Falls on Thursday, marked by a visit to the Hwange Thermal Power Station to provide miners with a firsthand experience of the daily power cuts impacting their operations.
AMMZ President Elton Gwatidzo, highlighted the four-day event’s focus under the theme ‘Zimbabwean Mining Landscape – Transition Towards the Present-Day 4th IR.’
He elaborated on the technical visit to Hwange Thermal Power Station, emphasizing the critical role of energy supply in driving production within the mining sector. Gwatidzo emphasized the need to comprehend the challenges faced by power suppliers.
The AMMZ, an affiliate of the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe, is mandated to address technical aspects in mining, including health and safety protocols and academic advancements.
Gwatidzo outlined the conference agenda, indicating a full-day program for the second day, commencing with the AMMZ annual general meeting. The day’s activities culminate in the President’s 51st-anniversary dinner, fostering networking opportunities.
He further detailed the diverse networking activities planned for attendees, including golf, helicopter rides, bungee jumping, safari tours, and nature walks. These activities aim to facilitate connections and collaboration within the mining community.
