Regai Zande, a 19-year-old resident from Battlefields, Kadoma, has been convicted of assault following an incident involving accusations of gold theft. Zande appeared before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court, where he faced charges stemming from an altercation on October 8, 2024.
According to court reports, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when the 31-year-old complainant encountered Zande on his way home. Zande accused the man of stealing his gold—a claim the complainant denied, calling it a misunderstanding. In the ensuing confrontation, Zande allegedly picked up an unidentified object and struck the complainant on the head, causing a cut.
The court sentenced Zande to 14 months in prison, with 4 months suspended for five years on the condition of good behavior. The remaining 10 months were also suspended, provided that Zande completes 354 hours of community service
