Bikita Minerals, one of Zimbabwe’s leading mining operations, has reached a significant milestone in workplace safety, logging 457,500 injury and fatality-free shifts in the first seven months of 2024.
Collen Nikisi, Bikita Minerals’ Public Relations Officer, attributed this success to effective communication within the team. He emphasized that regular meetings, training sessions, and awareness programs have ensured that safety policies, procedures, and legislation are thoroughly communicated and adhered to by all team members.
Commitment to Safety
“This accomplishment aligns with Bikita Minerals’ strategic goal to remain one of the largest, most efficient, and safest mining operations in Zimbabwe,” said Nikisi. “We celebrate the attainment of zero fatalities and injuries for the first seven months of 2024. This achievement resonates with our values, where we prioritize the safety of our employees and the community around us. We believe that zero harm is sustainable, and we continue to move in that same trajectory, ensuring that safety remains our top priority.”
Bikita Minerals’ dedication to safety is further reflected in their previous recognition, having won the NSSA Occupational Safety and Health Gold Award last year.
