The National Blood Services Zimbabwe, has issued a compelling appeal to the public and blood donors, urging them to step forward and contribute to the crucial cause of bolstering blood supplies in the Midlands province.
In an interview with the Great Dyke News, spokesperson Aggrey Ngazana, underscored the pressing need for immediate action, revealing that blood banks are currently perilously below the anticipated storage levels.
Ngazana emphasized that the organization has initiated proactive measures to address the shortage, including targeted blood donation campaigns in schools. To facilitate contributions, willing donors are encouraged to visit Blood Services Centers, with prominent locations being the headquarters clinic in Gweru along Mvuma road at Showgrounds, as well as the facility in Kwekwe.
The plea serves as a vital reminder of the importance of a robust and well-stocked blood supply, essential for meeting the medical needs of patients across the Midlands province.
The public’s support in heeding this call is crucial to ensuring the sustainability of blood reserves and, ultimately, saving lives.
