Informal traders say the Government’s decision to reopen ports of entry will reduce the smuggling of goods via illegal crossing points which have become rampant since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown in March.
In a separate interview informal traders said the smuggling was driven by desperation to fend for families.
The government last week announced plans to start opening the country`s ports of entry gradually. The ZRP reported the arrests of many border jumpers at illegal crossing points from South Africa, Zambia and Mozambique.
