Chief Mapanzure has outlined key priorities for his community in 2026, calling for increased development, unity and improved well-being following progress recorded in 2025.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, the traditional leader expressed concern over the growing problem of drug and substance abuse among youths. He urged stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns to educate young people on the dangers of drug use and guide them towards positive life choices.
Chief Mapanzure also highlighted health and safety as a major concern, particularly in mining areas, calling for stronger measures to protect miners and surrounding communities.
On development, he appealed to government to improve health infrastructure, especially in remote areas, through the construction of more clinics, better-equipped schools and the provision of ambulances to ensure quick response during medical emergencies.
Road infrastructure was also cited as a key priority, with the Chief calling for improved road networks to connect all parts of the district, in line with the national development thrust of “leaving no place behind.”
He concluded by encouraging citizens to embrace love, unity and hard work to drive collective progress and sustainable development in 2026.
