Community development efforts in Zvishavane continue to gather momentum following the completion of a new classroom block at Kandodo Primary School in Ngezi Constituency.

The project was spearheaded by Member of Parliament for Zvishavane–Ngezi Constituency, Honourable Mecky Jaravaza, after the school identified a growing need for additional learning space to accommodate increasing enrolment.

School authorities say the new block is expected to significantly improve learning conditions and academic performance. Kandodo Primary School Headmaster expressed appreciation for the development, noting that improved infrastructure will directly support better results.

“Our pass rate has been ranging around 85 percent, but we aim to surpass that. We believe this new block will help us reach a 90 percent pass rate going forward. The classrooms have also allowed us to recruit eight new teachers and expand our classes from Grade B up to Grade C,” he said.

Ward 10 Councillor Rebecca Banda also commended the initiative, thanking Honourable Jaravaza for his continued involvement throughout the construction process.

“We want to thank Honourable Jaravaza for standing with the community from the beginning until the completion of the new block,” she said.

Speaking during the handover, Honourable Jaravaza highlighted that the Kandodo project forms part of broader education development initiatives within the constituency. He revealed that similar projects are underway at Rusvinge and Ingome schools as part of efforts to improve access to quality education across rural communities.

The completion of the classroom block is expected to ease congestion, enhance teaching conditions, and strengthen education outcomes, reflecting ongoing collaboration between community leaders and local authorities to improve social infrastructure in Zvishavane.
