The Central Region Soccer League (CRSL) has postponed the start of its 2026 season, shifting the kick-off date from March 28 to April 2 as preparations continue for the new campaign.
In a memorandum issued on March 25, CRSL Regional Administrator Mr G Nyapomwe confirmed the adjustment, citing the need to finalise administrative processes and ensure venues are fully ready before the season begins.
The league had initially planned to kick off this weekend, but officials opted for a short delay to allow clubs and organisers adequate time to complete all logistical requirements ahead of what is expected to be a competitive season.
“All clubs are encouraged to continue with their preparations as we look forward to a smooth and successful start to the season,” Nyapomwe said in the notice.
Meanwhile, fixtures for the opening rounds have already been released, with Match Day 1 set for April 2–3 featuring several high-profile encounters. Defending contenders and traditional sides will immediately be tested, including Chapungu FC hosting Blanket Mine FC, while Shabanie Mine FC face Super Strikers FC in another standout clash.
Other fixtures will see Tongogara FC take on Vhembe Stars Academy, Sabi Gold Mine FC host ZRP Gwanda, and Kwekwe United FC clash with MSU FC, as teams look to make early statements in the title race.
Match Day 2, scheduled for April 5–7, will quickly follow, with MSU FC hosting West Nicholson FC and FC Platinum U19 facing Shabanie Mine FC among the key ties.
The CRSL, an affiliate of ZIFA, is expected to deliver another thrilling season, with clubs now using the extended window to fine-tune squads and strategies ahead of the revised kick-off.
