Nigeria’s Dangote Oil Refinery has commenced gasoline production after overcoming delays due to recent crude oil shortages the billionaire owner Aliko Dangote has announced.


During the announcement, Dangote expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for allowing the sale of crude oil in Naira, which has facilitated the refinery’s operations.

The $20 billion facility, located on the outskirts of Lagos, began operations in January, initially producing naphtha and jet fuel.


As Africa’s largest refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is set to significantly reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported oil products, which has been a costly burden for the oil-rich nation.
