A domestic dispute in Silobela’s Makande Village under Chief Malisa has tragically ended in the death of a 29-year-old man. Brighton Dube succumbed to injuries sustained in an altercation with his wife, Liona Mbulawa, on November 27, 2024.
The Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko reported that the incident occurred around 7:00 PM when Dube returned home from a local tuck shop. An argument about family welfare escalated into violence.
Mbulawa allegedly struck Dube with a pot on the forehead before hitting him with a burning log from the fire.
Despite intervention from a neighbor, 79-year-old Halane Dube, who took Mbulawa and her children away for the night, Dube’s condition worsened. His lifeless body was discovered the following morning.
Police attended the scene and arrested Mbulawa.
