Zimbabwe’s energy sector is set for a significant boost, with the ongoing expansion of the Hwange Power Station and the development of two large solar plants.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa, speaking at the Heroes Day celebrations, announced that the Hwange 7 and 8 expansion projects are now feeding a constant supply of power to the national grid, offsetting low production levels at Kariba.
He highlighted that the new solar plants, with a combined capacity of 250 megawatts, are nearing completion and will soon be commissioned, further enhancing the country’s energy capacity.
