Equatorial Guinea’s Vice-President Teodoro Obiang Mangue has warned civil servants that severe penalties await those caught engaging in sexual acts at their workplaces, following the leak of numerous explicit videos allegedly showing senior government official Baltasar Ebang Engonga. Engonga, head of the National Financial Investigation Agency and a relative of the president, is reported to appear in videos filmed in his office with multiple women, including wives of high-profile officials.

Vice-President Mangue condemned such behavior as a “flagrant violation of the code of conduct” and announced that surveillance cameras would be installed in ministries and courts to prevent further incidents. The videos surfaced following Engonga’s recent arrest on unrelated corruption charges, which led to their circulation on social media. In response, authorities have reportedly restricted internet traffic, particularly the downloading of images.

Equatorial Guinea’s chief prosecutor, Anatolio Nzang Nguema, warned that Engonga could face additional charges if found to have an untreated sexually transmitted disease, citing public health concerns. Engonga has not publicly commented on the allegations but expressed sadness on social media, posting a photo with his family captioned, “Family is everything.”
