Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident resulting in one fatality and injuries to three others. The incident occurred on July 24, 2024, around 1900 hours along the Harare-Masvingo Road in Mvuma.
ZRP midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Willis Mutisi, aged 57 and a resident of Harare, was driving a Freight Haulage Truck towards Mvuma, accompanied by one passenger. As they approached the 167 km mark, their vehicle collided head-on with a Hino Dutro truck traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was severe, leading to immediate fatalities and injuries.
Tragically, one passenger in Mutisi’s vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, two passengers from the Hino Dutro truck sustained serious injuries requiring urgent medical attention.
In light of this unfortunate event, authorities have reiterated their plea to all motorists to strictly adhere to road traffic regulations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safe speeds and driving responsibly to prevent such devastating accidents
