The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society, in collaboration with Minex, will host an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Breakfast Conference and ESG exhibition next month at the 114th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show. This event aims to raise awareness about the importance of ESG among stakeholders in the extractive sector.

Minex Chairman Munyaradzi Hwengwere emphasized the critical role of ESG in the Great Dyke, particularly in fostering positive relationships between miners and host communities, which include numerous farmers dependent on the land for their livelihoods.

Hwengwere indicated that the ESG Breakfast Conference on August 29 will bring together key stakeholders to discuss and promote ESG practices.
He also highlighted that the ESG Village exhibition will showcase current ESG initiatives by miners, serving as a model for others in the industry.

In Zimbabwe, companies listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange are mandated to produce ESG reports. These reports detail how mining companies address social, economic, and environmental concerns in their operational areas, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices.

The 114th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show will run from August 26 to 31, 2024, under the theme “Cultivating Prosperity. Growing Business. Innovating for Change.
