The holiday period, which marks the beginning of the school vacation, typically sees an increase in travel. Historically, this time has been marked by a significant number of road accidents. Last year, during the Heroes and Defence Forces holidays, there were 12 fatal accidents resulting in 15 deaths and 132 injuries.

Statistics showed a concerning trend. The number of fatal accidents increased from 4 in 2022 to 12 in 2023, while fatalities rose from 5 to 15 in the same period. Although there was a slight decrease in the number of injuries from 163 to 132, the rise in fatalities and accidents highlights the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures.
