Murowa Primary School in Zvishavane will on Friday host to the inaugural Mazvihwa Arts, Culture, Sports, and Edutainment Festival (MACSEF). The festival, themed “Our Culture: Building Mazvihwa Brick by Brick,” aims to foster cultural preservation, promote unity, and support development through arts and sports.
Festival organizer, Arclone “Masaisai” Tapson Hove, said the event, spearheaded by Chief Mazvihwa and his council, seeks to uphold the values of Unhu/Ubuntu and contribute to the government’s Vision 2030 for an upper-middle-income economy.
“Chief Mazvihwa, as the custodian of culture, has recognized the importance of using arts and culture as a vehicle for development and unity,” said Hove.
The festival will feature traditional and contemporary performances, including dance, poetry, drama, folktales, and exhibitions on Indigenous Knowledge Systems. Competitions will be held in sports like soccer, netball, and marathon. Traditional foods, including wild game meat, will be available, and the event aims to promote peace, intercultural dialogue, and fight drug abuse.
