Participants in the 2025 Palawani Wellness Challenge have praised the event for offering a rare blend of physical fitness, talent discovery, and community engagement in a scenic and rural setting.

Unlike most global marathons run on paved roads, the Palawani Wellness Challenge took runners through mountainous terrain and dusty tracks, cheered on by villagers whose lives have been positively impacted by the Palawani Lakeworld Resort.

Ernest Siziba, who came first in the 21km race, told Great Dyke News that he hopes the win will attract sponsorship to help him advance in his athletic career.

Palawani Lakeworld Resort Chairman Munyaradzi Hwengwere expressed satisfaction with the event’s continued growth, saying such initiatives are now becoming national rather than just confined to Harare.

“We are proud that this event is gaining momentum. One day, we hope to have a runner from here representing us at the Comrades Marathon in South Africa,” he said.

Stella Dhokotera, who travelled from Beitbridge to participate, said the running has transformed her health and is now an integral part of her lifestyle.

Entertainment from Brave the Soloist, Goda Moyo, and Zumba sessions kept spirits high—especially for those nursing sore muscles.

Organizers extended gratitude to event partners: FC Holdings, MIPF, Cell Holdings, Econet, Nyaradzo, Mimosa, Unki, and Sabi.
