Mimosa Mining Company’s General Manager, Stephen Ndiyamba, has urged communities across the Great Dyke to embrace active living, highlighting the crucial link between physical wellness and societal progress.

In his remarks ahead of the upcoming Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke slated for 6 to 8 November, Ndiyamba emphasized that sports should not be viewed as exclusive to athletes, but as a universal tool for improving health, fostering discipline, and strengthening social ties.

“You don’t have to ride 350 kilometres to start,” he said. “Maybe it’s a daily walk, a weekly football game with friends, or a hike in our beautiful local landscapes. The key is to start, to move, and to embrace an active lifestyle.”

Ndiyamba’s message comes at a time when sedentary lifestyles and lifestyle-related diseases are on the rise globally. By encouraging everyday physical activity, people can to cultivate a culture of health and productivity within mining communities and beyond.

“A healthy community is a productive, happy, and prosperous one,” he added.
The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, now a hallmark of corporate social responsibility in Zimbabwe, not only raises funds for disadvantaged children but also inspires widespread participation in physical wellness and community building.
