MERJKH Holdings Chairman Munyaradzi Hwengwere says the Gifted Children Foundation was established in memory of his late mother, Gogo Kudzai Hwengwere. The foundation currently takes gifted but underprivileged children through, giving them the opportunity to pursue their education.
Speaking on the foundation’s mission, Hwengwere expressed its commitment to uplifting disadvantaged children in the spirit of his mother’s legacy. “Today we take 50 kids to school. What is life if you can’t support the less fortunate?” he said. “Death and life only make sense if those of us who have been blessed realize our obligations to others.”
He indicated that the annual Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, a 320-kilometer cycling tour that will commence on November 7th in Selous aims to raise funds to support gifted but underprivileged children, ensuring they have access to quality education.
The foundation, inspired by Gogo Kudzai Hwengwere’s life of generosity, represents an effort to carry forward her spirit of compassion. “The roots of the Gifted Underprivileged Children Foundation stem from the life and generosity of my mother. This effort is meant to continue her legacy,” Hwengwere explained.
The upcoming Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke will not only raise awareness and funds but also serve as a reminder of the importance of community support and giving back to those in need.
