According to ZRP Midlands spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, three armed suspects attacked two complainants who had disembarked from a bus traveling from Gweru to Charandura.

“The suspects, armed with a machete, knife, and electric shocker, demanded cash from the complainants. When the victims refused, the suspects assaulted them, leaving one with a machete wound to the head and the other electrocuted,” said Inspector Mahoko.

The suspects stole US$4,400, two cell phones, and two pairs of sneakers before fleeing in a silver Honda Fit with registration number AEJ 9906. They drove towards Chizhou business center, where their vehicle suffered a puncture.

Inspector Mahoko explained that a vigilant eyewitness alerted a police officer at the business center, who mobilized members of the public to intercept the suspects. “One suspect, identified as Everson Madzore (40) of Old Ascot, Gweru, was apprehended while the other two escaped,” he added.

The total value of the stolen items is US$4,570, and none of the stolen property has been recovered.

“We are appealing to the public to assist in locating the two outstanding suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station or reach out to us directly. With your help, we can bring these individuals to justice,” urged Inspector Mahoko.
