President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officiated the commissioning of the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and bolstering economic activity in the region.
The newly rehabilitated 43-kilometer stretch serves as a vital link between the Beitbridge border post and major towns, including Gweru and Kwekwe. Previously, the road’s poor condition forced vehicles traveling to the Midlands Province to detour via Masvingo, increasing travel time and costs.
Speaking at the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, President Mnangagwa reaffirmed the Second Republic’s commitment to infrastructure development as a cornerstone of improving livelihoods. He highlighted road construction as a key priority in the government’s broader vision to modernize Zimbabwe.
