Scottland, a newly formed team from Mabvuku, has threatened to withdraw from the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League, citing alleged unfair practices during their recent 1-1 draw against MWOS at Ngoni Stadium. The match, which drew over 5,000 fans including former ZIFA boss Philip Chiyangwa, saw Scottland concede a late equalizer after leading with a goal by Denver Mukamba.
Club owner Scott Sakupwanya was furious after the game, accusing MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa of using underhand tactics to distract Scottland’s goalkeeper. According to Sakupwanya, a ball boy, directed by the MWOS bench, poured a liquid near the Scottland goal just before the equalizer. Sakupwanya condemned the actions, stating that such interference undermines the integrity of the league.
āIf this is how things are done, then we might have to reconsider our participation in the league,ā Sakupwanya said, expressing disappointment in the lack of fair play.
This incident follows a series of controversies involving Mutasa, who was involved in a physical altercation with Black Rhinos coach Nesbert Saruchera two weeks ago during another tense match.
