A 26-year-old man from Shurugwi has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of a fellow villager at a local bottle store.
Tendai Tonderai Marihoho appeared before the High Court in Gweru, charged with the murder of a 40-year-old man following a confrontation at Senzo Bottle Store, Jekwe Business Centre, on August 10, 2022.
The court heard that the now-deceased confronted Marihoho over an assault on his father.
The altercation escalated when Marihoho, armed with an okapi knife, attempted to attack the man but was briefly restrained. He later dragged the victim outside, poured beer on him, and fatally stabbed him in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Police arrested Marihoho shortly after, and he was convicted of murder, receiving a 30-year prison sentence.
