A serious road accident occurred in Gweru, involving a collision between two speeding vehicles that resulted in injuries to both drivers. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 22ND at approximately 00:52 hours, along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.
Speaking to Great Dyke News, Nyengera Mutero, aged 45 and a resident of Ruby area in Gweru, was driving a Toyota Sienta towards Bulawayo along the said route. Simultaneously, Kunaka Tafirenyika, 39, from Redcliff in Kwekwe, was operating a Silver Toyota Corolla, traveling in the opposite direction.
He said Tafirenyika attempted to overtake another vehicle and inadvertently encroached into MUTERO’s lane, leading to a perilous situation.
Inspector Mahoko said in a desperate attempt to avoid a collision, both drivers swerved their vehicles in the same direction, tragically resulting in a head-on collision at the 284km mark along the road.
