IT was on the 7th of April 2024 and FC Platinum was hosting CAPS United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava stadium. The Zvishavane platinum miners were the first to break the deadlock after Juan Mutudza scored in the first half. CAPS Utd huffed and puffed searching for an equaliser but it was proving elusive. With a couple of minutes left to play they thought they had found an equaliser when Ralph Kawondera scored. However his equalising goal was correctly ruled for offside.
But some disgruntled Makepekepe fans invaded the pitch baying for the referees’ blood. The match officials scurried for cover with missiles raining everywhere. The match officials were left with no option but to cancel the game.
The irate CAPS Utd coach Lloyd Chitembwe went balistic calling the referee a Stupid man and labelling the elite league a comic show.
Fast forwarding to yesterday the 4th of August Chitembwe was all smiles and he said it was a good game of football.
He was oblivious of the fact that William Manondo before he scored his only goal of the match, had tripped Rainsome Pavari. I know some people might want to sanitise the felling of Pavari as a physical contest, however the distance between the two players was wide. So the only plausible explaination was that Manondo tripped Pavari, period.
Another thing he is refusing to acknowledge is that Wilfred Muvirimi’s goal which was disallowed for offside was genuine. Funny how quickly things have changed. To imagine that the match officials he once labelled stupid all of a sudden have become perfect. The league which he once referred as a comic show has now become competitive. .
“In my honest opinion it was a difficult game. The win was very important. It cannot be bigger than this. Itās a very good result,” said Chitembwe.
This aptly fits the old cliche which says see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil if it favours you.
