In two separate incidents, the Zimbabwe Republic Police have made significant drug-related arrests.
On January 3, 2025, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Chivhu raided Plot 24 Vergnoek Farm in Featherstone, leading to the arrest of three men involved in the unlawful cultivation of marijuana. Learnmore Nyagumbo (33), Makuwerere James Nyagumbo (31), and Courage Chenzara (20) were apprehended after police discovered seven plants of dagga at the property.
According to the ZRP, the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing. The unlawful cultivation of cannabis remains a serious offense under Zimbabwean law, and police are stepping up their efforts to combat the growing illicit trade.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, police arrested Peter Zambara (40) at the Highglen Bus Terminus in Harare. Zambara was found in possession of 300 bottles of Broncleer Cough Syrup, a prescription medication often abused for its psychoactive effects.
The suspect was apprehended immediately after collecting the contraband from a cross-border bus, Crestlink Motors, which had just arrived in the capital.
