The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged motorists to exercise caution, especially when reversing, following two tragic road accidents that claimed the lives of two minors.
In Zhombe, a one-year-seven-month-old infant was fatally run over by an Iveco truck while it was reversing at Navata Business Centre on October 27, 2024, around 8:00 a.m.
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy from Tsholotsho died upon admission to the hospital after falling from a moving Toyota Hilux on October 26, 2024. The victim had been holding onto the mudguard of a trailer being towed by the vehicle along the Bulawayo-Tshefunye Road.
The driver failed to stop following the incident, and police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
The ZRP has urged all drivers to check their surroundings before reversing and stressed the importance of road safety to avoid further tragedies.
