The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) has confirmed the tragic death of Air Lieutenant Nesbert Tambudza, a young pilot who perished in a crash near Guinea Fowl in Gweru. The incident occurred while Tambudza was undergoing solo consolidation general handling navigation training on a Karakorum-8 (K-8) jet trainer aircraft.
The aircraft went down approximately 5 kilometers east of Guinea Fowl, with the crash causing extensive damage to the jet. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties or property damage on the ground.
In line with standard procedure, the Air Force of Zimbabwe has established a Board of Inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident.
