Three Ministers To Grace Mining Media Awards.

All is set for the Mining Media Awards slated for this Thursday the 3rd of October 2019 with three Ministers having confirmed their attendance at the event to be held at a local hotel in Harare.

Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister July Moyo will be the Guest of Honour while the Minister of Mines and Mining Development Winston Chitando will be the Guest Speaker.

The Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Senator Monica Mutsvangwa will also be one of the guests.

MEJRKH Public Relations and Communication Executive Moses Charedzera said this year’s event is bigger as compared to the previous years.

“Preparations for the awards have reached advanced stages and this year’s event is bigger and better.

“The glittering ceremony will once again throw the spotlight on journalists who have excelled in reporting mining issues and distinguished themselves through impactful reportage,” he said.

Charedzera added that the event is meant to promote safety, sustainability, and responsible mining, among other issues.

“As Mejrkh, we will continue in partnership with our sponsors to capacitate and enhance the work of journalists reporting on mining issues to ensure journalism sets the agenda for safety, sustainability, and responsible mining, among other issues.

“Mineral resources are finite, hence the need to ensure mining activities create beneficial all-round impact and lasting legacies on local communities and the nation at large,” he said.

Amongst the sponsors are Mimosa Mining Company, Fidelity Printers and Refiners, Zimasco, Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA)Zimplats, Unki and Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company and Minex.

The Mining Media Awards which are organized by MEJRKH Communications and Media Advisory in partnership with the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe honour media practitioners who have significantly contributed towards objective and impactful coverage of the mining sector.
