The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has announced its concerted efforts in partnership with the Zimbabwe Republic Police to advocate for safe driving practices during the upcoming festive season.
In an interview, Mr. Munesu Munodawafa, the Managing Director of TSCZ, highlighted their primary objective: raising awareness among drivers about the inherent risks on the roads and promoting behaviors that minimize fatalities and injuries across Zimbabwe’s roadways.
Munodawafa emphasized the imperative of ensuring that drivers are well-informed about road safety hazards, aiming to cultivate a culture of responsible driving that significantly reduces accidents and casualties during this celebratory period.
Reflecting on the previous festive season, Zimbabwe Republic Police reported a staggering total of 2723 road accidents occurring between December 15th, 2022, and January 15th, 2023. Tragically, these incidents resulted in the loss of 148 lives, with 669 individuals sustaining injuries.
