In a shocking incident yesterday morning, a train collided with a bus carrying school children at the Willton Level Crossing in Mutare. The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has confirmed the accident, which preliminary investigations attribute to the bus driver’s failure to observe level crossing rules.
According to the NRZ, the driver attempted to beat the train across the tracks, resulting in the devastating collision.
Eyewitnesses added a startling detail: the bus driver was reportedly wearing earphones and failed to hear the train’s horn. In the aftermath of the crash, the driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind a scene of chaos and concern.
