A high-profile corruption trial is set to unfold in the Harare High Court as the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe indicts Moses Mpofu (49) and Mike Chimombe (43) on serious charges of fraud and forgery.

Court documents reveal that Mpofu and Chimombe are accused of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme involving a land dispute and document forgery. The defendants allegedly produced counterfeit ZIMRA (Zimbabwe Revenue Authority) tax clearance certificates and NSSA (National Social Security Authority) compliance certificates. These falsified documents were submitted as part of a bidding proposal for the supply and delivery of goats to the Presidential Goat Pass-on Scheme, managed by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development.

The trial is slated to run from October 1 to October 4, 2024.

The accused face multiple charges, including fraud, forgery, and misrepresentation, in what is poised to be a closely watched case.
