Two individuals, Brighton Muroyi (19), a self-proclaimed prophet, and Revai Kweza (45), have been arrested in Kwekwe for orchestrating a staged witchcraft scenario. The pair were apprehended on 17 February 2025 after police uncovered their plot to boost Muroyi’s fame as a prophet.

Kweza, pretending to be a trapped witch, was found seated inside a locked house in Mbizo 3, Kwekwe, near a Johane Masowe eChishanu Apostolic Sect shrine. She was dressed in a black skin-tight outfit, a black bra, and a dook. The unusual sight drew a crowd, prompting police intervention.

Upon questioning, Kweza admitted to the staged act, implicating Muroyi, whose aim was to attract attention to his prophetic ministry. Police discovered WhatsApp messages on their phones, revealing that the pair had coordinated the incident, with Kweza being paid for her role.

Authorities are urging the public to pursue honest livelihoods and exercise caution when seeking spiritual services, emphasizing the importance of verifying the background of prophets before engaging with them.
