Two men will spend the next 9 years of their lives behind bars following their conviction for the possession of dagga in Beitbridge.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe announced the sentencing of Never Ndambakuwa, 33, from Dulibadzimu Beitbridge, and Tapson Madyise, 32, from Mapanzure Village in Chief Makumbe, Buhera, after they were found with 78.54 kilograms of cannabis on December 10, 2024.

The court heard that the incident occurred when Ndambakuwa, driving a truck, entered a company’s premises where he was apprehended with three sacks containing the dagga. During the subsequent police investigation, Ndambakuwa implicated Madyise, leading to their arrest.

Both men were brought before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court on charges of possessing dangerous drugs.

The court sentenced Ndambakuwa and Madyise to 10 years imprisonment each, with one year suspended for five years on the condition of good behavior, effectively resulting in a nine-year prison term for each.
