A two-year-old boy tragically drowned on January 12, 2025, after falling into an open pit at a neighbor’s house in Waterfalls, Harare. The pit, intended for septic tank construction, was left unsecured.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, stating that the toddler was playing near the pit when the accident occurred. His body was retrieved and taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital for post-mortem.
Authorities have urged residents to secure construction sites to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
