Admire Chadira, a 43-year-old man from Zaka, was sentenced by the Chipinge Magistratesā Court on two counts of unlawful entry and theft. In June 2024, Chadira forcefully entered a 38-year-old womanās homestead while she was away, using an iron bar to open the door. Once inside, he stole various items, including two blankets, two comforters, plastic dishes, three plastic lunchboxes, two kango plates, clothes, and a gas tank.
The second count occurred on 14 July 2024, when the complainant visited her sonās home and discovered that his property was missing. While inspecting the premises, she found Chadira hiding under the bed before he fled the scene. The stolen items included a welding machine, a gas tank, an inverter, a wheelbarrow, and some clothes.
Chadira was arrested on 16 July 2024 after a tip-off indicated he was in possession of suspected stolen property. Both offenses were combined for sentencing purposes, resulting in a 36-month prison term, with 2 months suspended on the condition of restitution. Consequently, Chadira will serve an effective 34-month sentence.
