The World Health Organization (WHO) has pledged to support Zimbabwe in preventing the spread of Mpox, following an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Health Minister Dr. Douglas Mombeshora has assured the public there is no need to panic, as the government works with the UN to bolster preventive measures.
Itai Rusike, from the Community Working Group on Health, urged people to avoid large gatherings.
WHO reports 234 confirmed Mpox deaths worldwide, including 32 in Africa. Unofficial figures suggest 998 deaths in Africa, with the DRC heavily affected. Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Zambia are among the 17 African nations impacted this year. Globally, cases have surpassed 106 million.
