The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on December 8, 2024, at approximately 3:30 AM at the 330-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.
The incident involved an Inter Africa bus colliding with the back of a stationary truck, resulting in seven fatalities. The number of injured victims is still being determined. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Gweru Provincial Hospital’s mortuary, while the injured have been admitted to the same facility. Further details will be released as they become available.
Meanwhile, the ZRP has issued a warning to the public, especially communities along the highways, regarding the serious criminal offence of looting from haulage trucks or vehicles involved in accidents. Such actions, including stealing goods and taking them to private homesteads for use, sale, or any other purpose, will not be tolerated.
