Zvishavane District Development Coordinator, Darlington Chokera, assured that the region is currently free from Cholera but urged continued vigilance against the disease.
Addressing inquiries from the Great Dyke Centre, DDC Chokera confirmed no recorded Cholera cases in Zvishavane since the outbreak began in the country. However, he highlighted suspected cases in the neighboring Mberengwa District, involving individuals employed at P.Hall mine within Zvishavane.
Despite the absence of confirmed cases, Chokera expressed concern as the suspected Cholera cases were initially linked to Zvishavane. To investigate the potential source, the DDC and the Ministry of Health are conducting surveys in the area where the disease was first detected.
Chokera emphasized their proactive stance, conducting awareness campaigns through various channels and reinforcing proper handling of potential Cholera sources within the district.
