Legislator Chamu Chiwanza has issued a scathing critique of the current management of Zimbabwean football, calling for the immediate resignation of the Zifa normalization committee chairman and other members.
In a fiery statement, Chiwanza accused the committee of incompetence and lack of commitment to the sport.
“We cannot allow football to be run by clueless individuals with selfish agendas in this country,” Chiwanza stated. “I expect the chairman of the Zifa normalization committee to put in his resignation with immediate effect. He has no background in football and has never attended any matches. He confessed this in front of the entire committee.”
Chiwanza further criticized the committee members, singling out Rose Mugada as the only one with relevant experience due to her involvement in women’s football.
He described the situation as catastrophic, highlighting the committee’s failure to improve the state of football despite being in office for over a year.
“The normalization committee is supposed to stabilize our football, but instead, the degradation and decay are worsening,” Chiwanza remarked, expressing deep concern for the future of the sport in Zimbabwe.
