Refurbishment works at the National Sports Stadium are progressing well, with major upgrades nearing completion, according to Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere.
The minister has said water reticulation is 65% complete, while CCTV installation, turnstiles, and venue operations control have reached the halfway mark. Bucket seat installation is also 35% done.
He said the updates were share in a report presented to the Cabinet by Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts, and Culture Kirsty Coventry, Minister Muswere highlighted the “considerable” advancements made in the project. These improvements are essential for the stadium to meet the Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.
The stadium’s failure to comply with CAF regulations had previously forced Zimbabwe’s national teams, including the Warriors, to play their home matches abroad. Once completed, the renovations will restore the venue’s suitability for hosting international matches, providing a boost to local football and sports at large.
