Iranās supply of ballistic missiles to Russia has intensified discussions about allowing Ukraine to use Western-provided long-range missiles against targets inside Russia. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, visiting Kyiv with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, said the Iranian missiles mark a significant escalation, shifting the debate.
Ukraine has been pressing for permission to strike Russian targets beyond occupied territories. So far, the US and UK have restricted such use to avoid escalating the conflict. Blinken suggested President Biden may discuss the issue with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer soon, while Lammy stressed the importance of countering Russiaās growing arsenal.
Both the US and UK announced further financial aid to Ukraine, while imposing new sanctions on Iran for supplying Russia. Iran denies the accusations, calling Western claims based on “faulty intelligence.”
