Nyanga South legislator Supa Mandiwanzira and Mbizo Constituency legislator Corban Madzivanyika faced off in Parliament over the contentious issue of sanctions, with both MPs presenting contrasting perspectives on their impact on Zimbabwe.
Mandiwanzira argued that the existence of sanctions, particularly those imposed on the country’s leadership, affects Zimbabwe as a whole.
“There are some who say there are no sanctions against this country,” Mandiwanzira stated. “But as long as the head of state, the president of this country, remains under economic sanctions, the effect of the matter is that he represents all our aspirations, and the impact is felt by everyone.” He emphasized that the sanctions on high-ranking individuals still indirectly impact the nation and its citizens, despite some entities being removed from the sanctions list.
On the other hand, Madzivanyika countered that sanctions in Zimbabwe are limited to specific individuals, rather than the country as a whole.
