Shurugwi South Legislator Wilson Mhuri, has issued a stern warning to local villagers about the increasing incidents of road sign vandalism, which threaten the integrity of the newly upgraded Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road. Mhuri expressed concern over the damage to key infrastructure that plays a crucial role in the economy of both the constituency and the wider Midlands Province.

In an interview with Great Dyke News, Mhuri emphasized the importance of safeguarding the recently rehabilitated 43-kilometer stretch of road, which links Shurugwi in Midlands Province to Mhandamabwe in Masvingo.

The US$41 million project, completed on December 12, 2024, under the National Development Strategy 1, transformed the previously hazardous route into a vital corridor for trade and transport, connecting major towns and facilitating regional trade across the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
